One Room Challenge Week 7
As we approach the end of the One Room Challenge I’m going to go over some of my favorite moments in our kitchen, simple little changes that made a big impact and were affordable.
First, which I’ve already talked about, is repurposing our cabinets to a stacked position in the corner. If you are thinking about changing your kitchen (or any room for that matter) try and think of creative ways to use what you already have on hand.
Second, we repurposed this thin strip of granite that used to be on the wall acting as a backsplash and moved it down to the toe kick area below our cabinets. I’ve never seen this done before and sure it may be crazy but that’s what I love, different and crazy. Plus it was nice to be able to repurpose these strips because I didn’t know what we were going to do with them otherwise.
Third, we changed the faucet. Our old one was leaking and I didn’t think that a new faucet would make such an impact but it really did! So I would recommend switching that out if you want a quick and not too expensive change. Try a different metal and shape from what you already have. We chose this Kohler faucet from Build.com which so far has been excellent!
The last easy trick for a quick transformation is to add a rug. I debated for awhile if I wanted one in the kitchen but as soon as I laid down this rug from Swoon Rugs I knew it had to stay. Such a great way to add color and texture.
